Jack and Rod Laird founded the company in 1962 at 11150 S. Cicero Ave., Alsip, IL.

After clearing the land of trees, the brothers began selling lumber, plywood and drywall from an office in a trailer.

Eventually they built a small store/warehouse and expanded the business to include kitchen and bath fixtures, hardware, paint and paneling.

A devastating fire destroyed all but one building on Mother's Day, 2007.

The owners were humbled by the overwhelming support of their customers, suppliers and village officials that allowed the facility
to remain open during the re-building.

A grand re-opening was held in the spring of 2009.

The real legacy of a family-owned business like Fox are the generations of employees (some of which have been with the company over 40 years)
whose dedication and loyalty helped it not just survive but thrive during multiple recessions and the Covid epidemic.

We are forever grateful to our loyal customers, vendors and friends who have supported us over 6 decades.

The current second-generation owners (both in their 70's) are retiring.
