CabotŪ Solid Color Decking Stains are extremely durable exterior stains for use on all wood decking, outdoor furniture and
fencing, as well as cement patios and walkways. Oil Series #1600 contains all-natural pigment with 100% alkyd resin. Solid
Color Stains provide excellent adhesion to new, previously stained or painted surfaces, which are in a clean, sound condition.
Oil Series #1600 will cover 400-500 sq. ft. per gallon on smooth surfaces; 250-350 sq. ft. per gallon on rough surfaces.
These rates will vary depending upon the porosity and type of surface. Spread rates will increase when applying a second coat.
Where to Use
Solid Color Decking Stains are ideal for use on most types of lumber including redwood, cypress, pine and fir, as well as
pressure-treated wood. Oil decking stains #1600 are also excellent for mahogany, cambara, meranti, and other exotic wood species.
Preparing Your Surfaces
Proper surface preparation is the key to maximum product performance. The durability of this product can be impaired by an unsound
or poorly prepared surface. It is very important that the surface be clean of all dirt and sufficiently dry. (Moisture content must
be below 15%, or wood must be exposed to dry weather a minimum of 3 to 5 days.) Previously painted, stained or weathered wood surfaces
should be scrubbed with Cabot Problem-SolverŪ Wood Cleaner and a stiff bristle brush. Cabot Problem-Solver
Wood Brightener can be used
to easily remove nail and metal rust stains, stains caused by extractive bleeding, and renew the wood's appearance. Use Cabot Problem-Solver
Wood Stripper to safely remove all stains and paints from wood surfaces in order to prevent product failure and to create a
sound surface for maximum adhesion. Power washing has proven to be effective in removing the surface layer of all loose wood fibers,
dirt, chalky residue, flaking paint and stain and other foreign matter.
Stir thoroughly before and occasionally while using. If the job requires more than one batch, blend them together. Apply evenly with a
brush to small sections. Best results can be obtained by using a high-quality natural bristle brush for oil stains.
Recommended 0.017"-0.021" at 1800-2000 PSI with a fan width of 5-8 inches. When using HVLP spray equipment, see manual for proper set-up
instructions. Work in sections and always back brush each section immediately to ensure proper coverage.
Cleanup and Disposal
Clean brushes and equipment with mineral spirits. Dispose of empty cans or unused portion in accordance with local, state and federal
regulations. Close container when not in use. Soak oily rags, lambswool, steel wool, cloths or any other material in water after use to
avoid spontaneous combustion. Danger: Rags, steel wood or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded.
Immediately after each use, place rags, steel wool or waste in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
