| INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1:
Choose a floor joist inside the house that is adjacent to where the deck is supported.
The location should be free of obstacles (air ducts, pipes, wires) and fairly easily accessed.
Hold a bracket in place and mark the location for the hole to be drilled through the band board and the ledger
board. Remove the bracket and drill a 1/2 " hole through the ledger and the band board.
| STEP 2:
From the inside of the house, install a 1/2" x 5" bolt in the bracket and push the
bolt through the hole that was just drilled.
From the outside of the house (under the deck) install a flat washer, lock washer and retaining nut on the
bolt. Thread the nut on loosely to allow adjustment of the bracket. |
|
 |
STEP 3:
Back inside, hold the bracket tight against the floor joist and drill through one of the four holes in the bracket
to allow for a bolt to be run through the floor joist.
NOTE: KEEP THE DRILL AS LEVEL AND SQUARE AS POSSIBLE WHILE DRILLING THESE HOLES!
| STEP 4:
Install a 1/2" x 3" bolt in the new hole and place a second bracket on opposite side of floor joist.
Slide the bracket over the protruding bolt through the corresponding hole. Install a flat washer, lock washer
and retaining nut onto the bolt. Hand tighten the nut to hold the second bracket in place. |
|
 |
STEP 5:
Drill a hole in the band board and ledger board through the second bracket and install a 1/2" x 5" bolt.
STEP 6:
Drill a second hole through the floor joist and have your drill bit go through corresponding, holes in both brackets.
Install 1/2" x 2 1/2" bolt. Install flat washer, lock washer and retaining nut and tighten with socket or wrench.
| STEP 7:
From the outside, install flat washer, lock washer and retaining nut on the second
bolt.
Installation Notes:
- Use 1/2" diameter hardware; bolts with flat washers, lock washers, and nuts.
- Triple layer on bracket mounts towards lateral force.
- Always use a membrane between pressure-treated lumber and hot-dip galvanized DeckLok Brackets.
- Railings - Brackets must always be installed on upper post mounting bolt.

| DeckLok is a bracket system that secures deck components
to the structure of the deck that is revolutionizing the deck industry. This patented bracket
system strengthens the vulnerable connections between deck components by adding a bolted
attachment at the critical structural locations. The DeckLok bracket system provides the
strength required to meet the new IRC 2003 Safety Code requirements for both lateral pullout
and rail post stability while using your current deck construction techniques and designs. |
