The patent-pending FastenMaster IQ Hidden Fastening System is engineered
to achieve these performance goals:
1. EASE OF INSTALLATION
Above-the-deck installation: The IQ System is designed to be installed while
standing on the deck. This makes installation much faster and easier than "below-the-deck"
hidden fasteners.
Just clip & flip: Simply align the clips with the joists, attach to the bottom of each board.
Flip. Then install the joist screw. In three easy steps, you're done.
One clip: The IQ System is engineered with one style clip. No special Right Clip, Left Clip,
Butt Joint Clip. One clip does it all.
One tool: The only tool you will need to install the IQ System is a drill. No need for a sledge
hammer, a biscuit cuttor or a bow wrench.
2. VERSATILITY
Various boards: Composite decking, hardwoods, mahogany, cedar - IQ works with them all.
(Note: deck boards must be solid, not hollow, and not contoured on the bottom.)
Various thicknesses: The IQ System is ideal for boards with thicknesses of 1" to 2". It can be used
for ¾" boards, though the clips may be a bit more visible.
All widths: IQ can be used on 4" to 6" wide boards.
All angles: Perpendicular to joist, 45°, 60° ... any angle deck you can design, IQ can attach.
3. DO THE WHOLE DECK
First board/Last board: The IQ System has been engineered with a very simple first board/last
board solution.
Butt joints: The same is true with butt joints. IQ's patented clip design makes it very easy. Note:
Certain hardwoods require predrilling at butt joints.
4. STRONG, LONG-LASTING HOLDING POWER
The strength of the clip: IQ clips are made of a high performance engineered resin, and have
been subjected to extreme freeze-thaw, high impact and UV stability testing.
The strength of the hold: The IQ System is fastened directly to the joist and the deck board. This
two-point design offers measurably higher connection values.
5. ACQ COMPLIANT
The screws are coated and compliant: Both the IQ clip screw and joist screw are plated and
coated to offer an extremely high level of corrosion resistance. The screws have been tested and are
approved for use in ACQ and Copper Azole pressure treated lumber. Note: Use of these coated, carbon steel
screws are not recommended for salt water applications.
The engineered resin clips eliminate any concern: The IQ clip is immune to any corrosive elements present
in pressure treated lumber.
6. IMPROVED AERATION AND DRYING
Raised from the deck: The IQ clip is designed to raise the deck board ¼" off the joist
below. This allows for greater air flow and drying between the joists and the deck.
7. A BEAUTIFUL FINISHED LOOK
Preset gapping: The FastenMaster IQ System is designed to give each deck an elegant and constant
3/16" board to board gapping.
Flat finished surface: Due to the design of the IQ System, the surface of your finished deck will be extremely
flat from board to board. |
